Hello, Friends —
NEW SINGLE
It’s my favorite kind of day, new release day! The new single “Moonlight Over Baltimore” drops today.
Previous Bandcamp Reviews:
“There's a sense of subcutaneous menace to these songs that enhances their beauty.” Favorite track: Tone Poem. - Matt Banash
“I love all 5 songs, but this one really connects with me emotionally. It feels sad and wistful, but also cathartic. Gorgeous piano playing.” Favorite track: The Benefit of Hindsight.” - Steve Goldberg
“A gorgeous soundscape that demands your attention, and reveals a little bit more of itself with each listen. Break out the good headphones for this one!” Favorite track: Tone Poem. - Kevin Alexander
DIGITAL DETOX
This month I have been taking an incredible songwriting class taught by Brian Eno. To say the class has been incredible would be a huge understatement.
Part of our homework assignment this week has been to detox from our phones. No phone except for absolute necessities and emergencies.
I turned my phone off on Sunday and didn’t turn it back on until Wednesday when I had to charge my car and needed the ChargePoint app. I’ve deleted every social media app (sorry Substack) and turned off all notifications except for text messages.
This is what my main app screen looks like now:
The first two days were the roughest but the best part so far has been avoiding all the news. My focus has been 100% on creating and I plan on staying the course.
If you have an interest in finding out more I will post the guidelines and goals for the detox that the School of Song emailed to the class. It’s really alarming how engaged we are with this technology.
I hope you enjoy the new single. Please leave thoughts and prayers. Namaste
Would love to hear more about the detox and the guidelines you used!
More importantly, I'm loving the new track! It feels ominous, which seems timely.
Great track! I like the slightly dissonant groovy piano line. Is there both sampled and recorded drum parts? Thotz and prayerz!
