Super news, waiting to discover the Grassy Knoll archives you will select! I bought the 1st GK album in London circa the mid 90s, a random purchase based on the vague memory of a positive review in a french mag /fanzine. Back home (Paris back then), that was for me THE discovery of the year, loved it at first listen and bought the next ones as soon as I became aware of their existence (these were pre-internet days & sadly GK did not get much media attention on the old continent). Anyway, GREAT news, thanks for digging into these DATs!!!
Thank you so much for the kind words, Alain! I also have instrumental versions of the vocal tracks off Electric Verdeland Vol.1. I'm excited to hear those again as well and will probably include them with the DAT releases. Your comment made my day, thank you for reaching out.
My fav Grassy Knoll album is Short stories, love the icy voice of Becca Ayers. Last year I lost my mother and I’ve had to drive alone a few round trips of 600 miles from home usually during night time, I often loop-played that album, a perfect balance between urban beauty & despair. Ideal in the dark on almost desert motorways, my unforgettable companion of these moments....
About Electric Verdeland Vol.1, the title suggests that a vol.2 might exist someday… ?? Also any possibility for a vinyl repress, the first edition of 300 was so so so limited ?
Wow, very cool find. My analog to this are cassette tapes and they are a bit painful quality-wise. Ah well, I guess I will stick to making new music and writing songs. So excited to hear this era of your music GK!
The DAT tapes logged so far have held up beautifully. I'm surprised but relieved. The demos for all three albums are here so now I just need to fly them into Logic, master them, and put a compilation of my faves together. It's been a fun ride down memory lane and I'm only six tapes in : )
This is incredibly exciting news!!! I saw the Grassy Knoll perform at a record store convention (Strawberries) in Providence R.I. around 1996 and was completely blown away, I didn't even know what I was witnessing, I just knew it was awesome and I've been a fan ever since. Pretty sure I have everything ever released so looking forward to some new (old) stuff.
Wow! That is so awesome, Andrew. Man, I wish I had a recording of that Strawberries show. I've been listening to the tapes and I'm excited to discover that I have all the demos for Positive, III, and four or five from the first album. I'm definitely having a great time finding out what's on the tapes.

I'm sorry for the loss of your mother. It's heartwarming to know that the music gave you some comfort/escape.
