I did it. I drew or wrote on every single page of a 180-page journal. I can’t believe it—I just finished a journal! Looking back at the pages fills my heart with joy. I’d never completed one before. I’ve started many journals through the years but you know how that goes. I was determined to see this one through. And I did it!
The bulk of these pages are part of my commitment to draw every day for at least ten minutes starting last January first–ten minutes would easily turn into an hour plus. Well, here I am, 126 days later, still enjoying the ride. Tomorrow I will be starting a new journal, but for now, please join me as I share some of my favorite pages.
In the beginning I was practicing with lines and shapes mostly. I was interested in adding some simple word collages but this practice didn’t get any traction. Looking back on some of those pages now makes me want to play around with the concept some more.
Quickly, I found that drawing characters and giving them life excited me the most. It’s a healthy way to express how I’m feeling that day or dealing with some crazy ass maga (lower case please) news.
Some of the pages are just about having fun.
My favorite character is Lenore. She just calls it the way it is. Plus she has groovy hair!
All good things must come to an end.
I hope you’ve enjoyed the show. Which drawing is your favorite? I would love to know.
Thank you for checking out my post!
Great work, Nolan! Such a pleasure to fill every page in a book. And not just with throwaway words. Inspiring stuff!
Now I have journal envy! I've never done one. 56 was my fav. I can hear the rant in my memory. This was great.
